Google Adds Image Rights Metadata!
In a move sure to delight photographers, Google added image rights metadata to the photo search results on Google images. It's a part of a collaboration beteewn Google, CEPIC and IPTC. Most of the times, images are usedon the web with little to no credit, nor any way of finding the copyrights owener. But, in a statement on thein blog, Google claims that as of 27/09/2018 they have "added creator and credit metadata whenever present to images on Google Images".
A copyright Notice metadata is also in the plans of the company, scheduled for the coming weeks. In addition, they will link up with CEPIC and IPTC to give advice to photographers and publishers on how to include copyright info in metadata.
Finally the company asks users for their questions, feedback or even suggestions.
